Where brands differ
- One manufacturer, many brands. Per the BIS list checked 16 Oct 2026, Warner Electronics India holds 7 branded R-numbers: Godrej, Trueview, Manomay, Consistent, Rudrax, Coreprix and Maxxion. VVDN Technologies holds 6 (Honeywell, Illustra, EQUUS, Vyonix, Norden, Jio), and Matrix Comsec 5 (Matrix, Prizor, NEOS, Ganz, Panasonic). Ail Dixon Technologies holds 5 R-numbers across 4 brands (CP Plus, Qubo, Nexivue, Norden).
- One brand, many manufacturers. Illustra appears on 3 R-numbers from 3 manufacturers in Taiwan, Vietnam and India. Bosch, Honeywell, Norden, Prizor, Secureye, Jio and Vicon each appear on 2. Each R-number covers only its own models.
- ER only vs ER plus analogue. Of the branded R-numbers, 6 also list analogue models: CP Plus, Prama, Sparsh, Velvu, Securus and Godrej. The ER does not apply to analogue cameras, per BIS's 1 Apr 2025 circular.
- Expiring soon. March Networks R-41240982 is valid to 17 Nov 2026. Qubo R-66001546 is valid to 19 Nov 2026, while Qubo's other R-number, R-66002690, runs to 11 Jan 2028.
- Securus doubled. Securus R-72004650 listed 10 ER models in our 9 Oct 2026 read of the BIS list and 20 on 14 Oct 2026, still 20 when checked 16 Oct 2026. Against the 9 Oct read, Hi-Focus R-61006165 went from 62 to 64 ER models and Vivotek R-41089311 from 17 to 18 (checked 16 Oct 2026). The list changes week to week, so re-check before you buy.
Not on the list as a brand
Checked 16 Oct 2026, the brand column has no entry for Hikvision, Dahua, Uniview, TP-Link, Tapo, EZVIZ or Imou.
- Hikvision. The name appears only inside the manufacturer "PRAMA HIKVISION INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED" (R-71004456, Registered, valid to 17 Jul 2031). That R-number has an empty brand column and 0 ER models. Its 376 entries are analogue, and 366 of them begin "DS-2CE".
- Dahua-style models. Pacific Cyber Technology's R-71011460 lists 64 analogue models beginning "DH-HAC", and its status is Cancelled.
- Norden UK. Norden Communication UK's R-41144860 has an empty brand column and 6 analogue models. It expired 27 Nov 2025. The live Norden ER registrations are the Dixon and VVDN rows above.
- Empty brand column, overall. 26 of the 83 R-numbers carry no brand, and all of them list only analogue models. Five are Expired, three Deferred and one Cancelled. Samriddhi Automations' analogue R-83007595 is Deferred, with validity printed as 14 Sep 2026. All 26 rows are in the CSV.
For what an R-number, the ER and STQC each prove, see STQC ER vs BIS CRS vs PPO. For the same list grouped by manufacturer, see CCTV brand manufacturers in BIS data.
What breaks in a factory
- A brand on the list is not a model on the list. Quotes often swap in a "similar" model with a different suffix. Only the exact string under "Models Complying with Security ER" counts.
- Mixed fleets. Analogue cameras on a DVR sit outside the ER; new IP cameras need the model check.
- Expiry during a project. Put the validity date in the purchase order.
- Recorders. The ER column doesn't say whether a string is a camera or a recorder. Check the NVR on its own datasheet.
When to call the installer / what to ask the vendor
Ask in writing for the R-number and exact model string. If the brand on the box differs from the brand BIS prints for that R-number, ask why. The 16 Jan 2026 MeitY OM bars the sale of non-ER IP cameras from 1 Apr 2026 (analogue is exempt). It does not address cameras already installed.
Where Mama fits
Mama reads a factory's existing cameras over RTSP/ONVIF, whatever the brand, and tells the owner where machine hours went idle. Leave an email or phone in the form below.
FAQ
Why is Hikvision missing from the BIS brand list? Not as a brand on BIS's security-ER list, checked 16 Oct 2026. The only Hikvision-named entry is the manufacturer Prama Hikvision India (R-71004456). It lists analogue models only, and none in the ER column. Prama-branded models are listed under a separate R-number, R-71014834.
How do I check whether a CCTV brand is BIS registered? Open BIS's "ER Certified CCTV" list and find the brand. Then confirm three things: the status reads Registered, the validity date is in the future, and your exact model appears in the ER column. Step by step: how to check a BIS R-number.
Is CP Plus BIS certified? Yes. CP Plus is on R-66000299 (manufacturer Ail Dixon Technologies, wholly owned by CP Plus owner Aditya Infotech since 18 Sep 2024 per its DRHP), valid to 20 May 2027, with 100 ER models and 133 analogue models listed when checked 16 Oct 2026. For the STQC side, see STQC-certified cameras for factories.
