No, not legally. PRAMA cameras come from Prama India Private Limited, whose annual return shows two Indian individuals holding 100% at 31 Mar 2025. Hikvision products come from Prama Hikvision India Private Limited, whose latest published return names Hangzhou Hikvision as a 58% holding company at 31 Mar 2023.
One director sits on both boards: DIN 02314764, printed as Ashish Pravinchandra Dhakan in both returns.

Read the two returns as snapshots taken two years apart. The Prama India figures are at 31 Mar 2025; the Prama Hikvision figures are at 31 Mar 2023. Hikvision's 58% is dated 31 Mar 2023; no later Prama Hikvision return was published on hikvisionindia.com (checked 14 Oct 2026).
The shared DIN is the link most buyers sense but cannot name. Director Identification Number 02314764 appears in both returns. It is Managing Director of Prama Hikvision India at 31 Mar 2023, and holder of 9,900 of 10,000 Prama India shares (99%) at 31 Mar 2025. The returns state nothing else about how the two companies relate. In 2008, trade press reported that Hikvision signed its Indian joint-venture MOU with Ashish P. Dhakan of Prama Technologies.

Prama India also holds separate BIS registrations for the iDADA (R-71049972, 2 models) and Secureye (R-71049999, 8 models) brands; every registrant's brands are mapped in who makes India's certified CCTV cameras.
For a factory buyer, the practical split is this. A certified network camera in this family carries a PT- model number and the PRAMA brand. Hikvision-brand DS- models appear on the BIS list only as analog (HD-TVI) cameras, not in the Security-ER column. Check one model with the CCTV certificate checker, or search alternatives in the certified CCTV finder.
Where brands differ
- Brand language. The Prama About page calls PRAMA "the premier indigenous security brand" and says "Made for India, Made by India and Made in India". The Hikvision India About page calls Hikvision "a global leader" and describes its own "'Make-in-India' initiative".
- The factory claim. Both sites describe a plant "near Mumbai". Prama cites "9Lakh sqft area of manufacturing". Hikvision India cites "more than 9 lakh sq. ft." and a capacity of "8 lakh cameras and one lakh beacon devices per month". It also says the plant can make 850 of 3,000 Hikvision products.

Some dealer blogs, for example this 2026 STQC list post, say PRAMA operates through the Prama Hikvision joint venture. On the BIS list and the STQC certificates, the PRAMA registrations sit with Prama India Private Limited, not with Prama Hikvision India.
What breaks in a factory
- Mixed estates. Many plants run older Hikvision
DS-cameras next to newer PRAMAPT-ones. If a customer audit or tender asks for certified network cameras, note that only thePT-network models appear on the STQC and BIS-ER lists. - Suffix swaps. A substitute shipped with a different suffix, such as
(D2)instead of(D2E), is a different string and may not be on the certificate. Check the box label against the PDF. - Recorder side. Camera certificates do not cover the NVR; check the recorder separately.
- Heat, dust, power cuts. Neither company's filing or certificate says anything about operating in a 45 °C shed or after a DG changeover. Those come from the datasheet.
When to call the installer / what to ask the vendor
Ask the vendor which company invoices you: Prama India Private Limited or Prama Hikvision India Private Limited. The CIN on the invoice settles it. Ask for the STQC certificate number or BIS R-number for the exact model string. If ownership matters to your buyer's audit, ask for the latest MGT-7 rather than relying on a brochure.

Is "Prama Hikvision" just another name for Prama? No. Buyers often use the names interchangeably, as in a techenclave thread (Jan 2026). They are two registered companies with different CINs, BIS R-numbers and model prefixes.
Are Prama cameras STQC certified when Hikvision ones are not? For specific models, yes. 58 PRAMA camera models were on STQC IoTSCS ER certificates on 7 Oct 2026. No certificate on that list named Hikvision. On the BIS list read 14 Oct 2026, the Hikvision-brand registrant had 0 models in the Security-ER column.
