CP Plus vs Prama: What the Filings Say About Dahua and Hikvision Links, and Certified Model Counts
If your buyer or PSU asks about Chinese OEM links, the two brands answer differently. CP Plus's link is commercial: its owner, Aditya Infotech Ltd, is Dahua's exclusive distributor in India (CARE Ratings, 7 Apr 2026), yet its June 2026 shareholding filing shows Indian promoters at 74.71%, foreign promoters at 0% and no Dahua shareholder. Prama's link is structural: the PRAMA brand belongs to Prama India Pvt Ltd (two Indian individuals, 100% at 31 Mar 2025), while the Hikvision brand belongs to a separate company, Prama Hikvision India Pvt Ltd (Hangzhou Hikvision 58% at 31 Mar 2023), and one director sits on both boards. On certification, Prama has more STQC-ER models (58 vs 45, read 7 Oct 2026) and CP Plus more BIS Security-ER models (100 vs 77, re-checked 13 Oct 2026).

Reading the CP Plus rows. The factory side is Indian-owned: AIL Dixon Technologies, formerly a 50:50 JV with Dixon, has been wholly owned by Aditya Infotech since 18 Sep 2024, when it bought Dixon's remaining 50% (RHP, pp. 8, 45, 294; CARE gives 10 Sep 2024). It runs the Kadapa factory and is the BIS registrant for CP PLUS. The Dahua tie runs through supply and distribution; CARE says AIL's bargaining power with Dahua comes from being its "exclusive distributor and procurer of its components". A CP Plus LQ-series web manual also repeats Dahua Web 3.0 manual text word for word (details). None of these sources says which CP Plus models are Dahua designs. Imports, the Shenzhen subsidiary and the full RHP trail are on Is CP Plus a Chinese company?.
Reading the Prama rows. The question is which of two companies sits behind a given product. On the BIS list, PRAMA-brand IP models with ER registrations sit under Prama India; the 376 analog-column models whose names mostly begin DS-2CE, with the brand field empty, sit under Prama Hikvision India. EPC World (3 Oct 2019) reported the Vasai inauguration without describing ownership. Prama's footer does not mention Hikvision, though its support menu carries categories named "Hik-Connect" and "About HSRC". The two companies' returns, side by side, are on Is Prama the same as Hikvision?.
Certified models and setup, in one short table
Counts come from our model dataset, built from the STQC certificate PDFs (read 7 Oct 2026) and the BIS CRS list (read 9 Oct, matched the live list on 13 Oct 2026). They cover certification, not quality.

The recorders on each site are different classes
The NVRs these brands put forward do not compare like-for-like. CP Plus's CP-UNR-108F1 lists "ONVIF (profile T/profile S/profile G)", 80 Mbps incoming, one SATA bay up to 8 TB and a working range of −10 °C to 45 °C. The CP-UNR-4K2161-V2 lists "ONVIF 2.4", 160 Mbps, one bay up to 6 TB and −10 °C to 55 °C. Prama's PT-NRAS3A32-I8/S is a rack unit: ONVIF S and G "for connecting third party network cameras", 320 Mbps, 8 hot-swap SATA bays, RAID 0/1/5/6/10, redundant power and −10 °C to 55 °C. Only the Prama unit lists a redundant power supply; a single-PSU desktop recorder needs a UPS and a disk check after an outage (HDD after a power cut).
On the camera side, CP Plus datasheets claim Profile S, G and T, but for 14 Q/LQ-series models the ONVIF listing does not show G. Prama's PT-NC120D3-N(D2) lists S and T plus "WSSE and digest authentication for ONVIF"; ONVIF lists it as S, T and M on firmware V5.8.6. A plant running both brands has two discovery tools (IP Finder, SADP) and two URL conventions, so adding everything over ONVIF on one camera VLAN keeps it to one method.
What to ask the vendor
If the lineage question matters to your buyer, ask the vendor in writing which legal entity is the OEM on the STQC certificate and the registrant on the BIS row for the exact model string on your quote, because suffixes matter. For Prama, that tells you whether the product sits under Prama India or Prama Hikvision India. Ask for the RTSP path and ONVIF profile for your firmware, and for Prama the default IP. Ask both where your nearest service centre is, because neither publishes a count.
Mama reads a plant's existing cameras of either brand over RTSP/ONVIF and tells the owner how long each machine sat idle. Leave an email or phone in the form below.
FAQ
Is the PRAMA brand owned by the same company as Hikvision India? No, they are separate companies; the filings are set out in Is Prama the same as Hikvision?.
Has the government blocked Hikvision and Dahua IP cameras? Asked in this form on techenclave (Jan 2026). This page does not interpret the rules; for what the BIS/STQC requirement asks of a buyer, see BIS/STQC 2026 for factory cameras. What the BIS CRS ER list showed on 13 Oct 2026: no registrant or brand named Dahua; one registrant named Hikvision (PRAMA HIKVISION INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED) with 376 analog-column models and none in the Security-ER column; and PRAMA-brand IP models under Prama India Private Limited.
Which of the two has more certified cameras? It depends on the list. On STQC-ER certificates read 7 Oct 2026, Prama had 58 camera models and CP Plus 45. On the BIS CRS Security-ER column, re-checked 13 Oct 2026, CP Plus had 100 and Prama 77. A buyer needs the exact model on both lists, so check the model string, not the brand total.
